I Write Like. . .

I stumbled across this on another blog - unfortunately I don't recall which one to give credit where credit's due - and I'm enough of a narcissist that I fed it a few paragraphs from one of my blog posts.

I Write Like by Mémoires, journal software. Analyze your writing!

I'd never heard of David Foster Wallace before, but looking over some of his books on Amazon, I definitely want to check out his work.

So that was kinda cool.

When I fed it one of my campaign adventure logs, however . . .

I write like
James Joyce

James Joyce? I think that's a bit generous . . .

  1. When I run the Hedgeman story in I get either Ursula K. Leguin or Tolkien depending on how much of it I run.

I ran my book through, just to see what it would come up with... and I got J.K. Rowling :(

    1. Ms Leguin and Prof Tolkein are certainly flattering comparisons.

Ms Rowling . . . well, it's really hard to argue with success.

  2. I don't know what it is with Joyce, I get him for some of my blog posts, I think for the 7th Sea recaps among others? The Shadowrun recaps give me Stephen King, which is kinda cool.

And yeah, David Foster Wallace is big on my to be read-list, but so far I haven't gotten around to him.

    1. Funny, I don't really think of James Joyce and swashbuckling in the same sentence very often.

    1. Terse, punchy adventure style - it's not all bad.

  4. As long as you don't get Stephenie Meyers it's all good.
